Tolgay
Ready to Shine
Prized Stallions recruit Tolgay Ozbey is ready to make
a mark with his new club this season, and has already set his sights on becoming the league’s
leading scorer…again.
Plenty is expected of the talented striker, following a stellar season with the Blacktown City
Demons, and the NSW Premier League Golden Boot winner is confident he can deliver.
“Obviously the most important thing is that the team is successful, but from a personal point of
view, I want to continue to score goals and win the Golden Boot again,” he said.
“I’ve been really impressed with the professionalism at Marconi and I’ve settled in really
well, so I think we should be in for a good season.
“DB (Dave Barrett) has been excellent and he
really wants to help me and I definitely think I can learn a lot from him.”
The Stallions woes in front of goals last season were well noted, and no doubt the acquisition of
Ozbey will add plenty of firepower.
A noted goalscorer with speed to burn, Ozbey is also just as adept as a target man and will provide
plenty of opportunities for his team-mates.
A minor knee injury has hampered his pre-season, but he is likely to see some game time in the
Johnny Warren Cup and will definitely be fit for the start of the season.
A carry-over suspension from last year means Ozbey will miss the opening match of 2008, but come
round two, he will be ready to explode.
“I’ve settled in really well with the boys and at training they’ve been looking to play me in
quite a bit, so I should be getting plenty of ball this
season,” he said.
“Hopefully I can make the most of it and I’m sure we’ll be creating plenty of opportunities.
It’ll be my job then, to finish it off.”
